This module quotes 45 CFR 164.314(a) and 164.504(e)(1)-(2) in full, verbatim, from sources/cfr/45-164-business-associate-excerpt.md — the only source used. 164.308(b), 164.410, and 164.502(e) are named only, because they’re referenced repeatedly by the saved excerpt but weren’t independently fetched this session; don’t look to this module for their specific mechanics.
A note on eCFR’s own site, read before the links below: this session tried, directly, to load eCFR’s own human-readable pages for both sections — the same www.ecfr.gov/current/... URLs recorded in the saved source file. Every attempt (plain curl, with a browser user-agent, with compression) redirected to unblock.federalregister.gov, a bot-protection wall blocking this environment specifically — the same class of block reading-an-iso-27001-certificate hit on iso.org. The eCFR Versioner API itself (the machine-readable data source, reached with --compressed) did return the current section text successfully (HTTP 200), confirming eCFR’s underlying data is live and matches what’s quoted above — but that API endpoint isn’t a page meant for a person to open and read. In its place, the links below go to GovInfo (the U.S. Government Publishing Office’s own official archive, the same underlying government source eCFR itself republishes), each directly curl-verified this session:
- 164.314 — GovInfo, CFR title 45, volume 2 — the official U.S. Government Publishing Office page for this section. Curl-verified this session: HTTP 200 from
govinfo.gov. Like several client-rendered government sites this curriculum has already encountered (AICPA inreading-a-soc-2-report), the page’s title tag doesn’t carry section-specific text to grep for — verified by status code and domain, plus a direct check of GovInfo’s underlying XML for this section (also HTTP 200), which was read and confirmed to match the text quoted in this lesson word for word. - 164.504 — GovInfo, CFR title 45, volume 2 — the same official archive’s page for 164.504. Curl-verified HTTP 200 the same way, including a direct check of the underlying XML against the text quoted above.
- If you’re checking these yourself later: try eCFR’s own current-text pages first —
https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-45/subtitle-A/subchapter-C/part-164/subpart-C/section-164.314and.../subpart-E/section-164.504— since this session’s block is specific to this environment and may not affect a normal browser. GovInfo’s annual-edition text (above) is official and verified current against this excerpt, but eCFR’s own “current” page reflects amendments in real time, which is the better source going forward if it loads for you.
