Resources
Three places to go deeper than this lesson, or to check a citation yourself before it goes in a real Lakeshore document. All three were checked and loading at the time this page was written.
21 CFR 211.68, Cornell Legal Information Institute — the regulatory floor this lesson’s patch VIAs and periodic reviews both answer to, in Cornell’s free, citable, plain-text CFR mirror. The same section module 1 quoted in full; useful here as a quick reference without pulling up the whole lesson again.
FDA guidance page: Blood Establishment Computer System Validation in the User’s Facility — the same guidance this course has quoted since module 1, the source for this lesson’s section III.I (“Validation after a Change”), III.C, and III.G quotes. Worth reading section III.I in full once: this lesson quotes nearly all of it, but the surrounding paragraphs on vendor contracts and manufacturer notification are real context this lesson only names in passing.
NIST SP 800-40 Revision 4, Guide to Enterprise Patch Management Planning — a free, public NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) publication on patch management as an enterprise IT discipline: classifying patches, prioritizing them, and testing before deployment. It isn’t written for FDA-regulated systems and doesn’t mention validation or regression analysis — read it as the general ITSM backdrop this lesson’s “patch classes with pre-analyzed regression plans” idea sits on top of, not as a source for anything BECS-specific.
